Amazon's own web crawler, used to improve Alexa and other Amazon products -- not simply traffic that happens to run on AWS infrastructure.

Amazonbot identifies itself in the User-Agent header and is operated directly by Amazon, distinct from unrelated third-party services that host their own crawlers on AWS servers (those would carry a different user-agent tied to that service, not "Amazonbot"). It is used to improve services like Alexa and Amazon's product search, and its access can be permitted or restricted independently via robots.txt, the same as other named bots.
